// Family History
  Dr. Hideki Kimura was the Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Argo, when Kazue and Michiko were born back on Earth. At the time, the Federation called for relief workers to help the Cardassian colonists along the Federation/Cardassian border in an effort to preserve peace. The Maquis were just starting to mobilize and the Federation wanted to stop them. So Dr. Kimura decided he would retire from Starfleet to help, at the rank of Commander. He originally wanted to go alone, but his wife said he should bring the family, despite its dangers.

After two years back in medical school to prepare, the Kimura's journeyed to Elzat 3 Colony, a small planetoid inhabited by Cardassian colonists, and also a major shipping route and target for the Maquis raiders. There were attacks by the Maquis off and on, as expected, but when Kazue and Michiko turned 8 things changed for the worse. The Maquis had threatened the Kimura's to make them leave Elzat 3, but they stayed anyway. Then one day, the Maquis completely destroyed the colony and killed nearly everyone there, including three of the four Kimura's. Kazue was critically injured and rendered totally blind in both eyes due to the attack.

Kazue was taken in by an elderly Cardassian man and his wife, Belain and Ritza Doram. Belain was an assistant of Dr. Kimura and his wife a botanist. Kazue was legally adopted by them and her name in Cardassian census books even today is Kazue Doram.

While living with the Dorams, Kazue frequently had to be surgically altered to look Cardassian. Belain Doram, her adopted father, was a retired surgeon for the Obsidian Order, and knew how to hide Kazue's true heritage. She did not mind, in fact, she truly believed she was more Cardassian than human. Especially a human from the Federation.

Kazue was taught at home and at the small local school on the colony, until it's destruction. She continued to be tutored by her foster parents and at 15 was sent to Cardassia for an education. She ran away after a year. She was then sent far away to Earth to finish High School living with relatives. Kazue went back to her birth city of Nagano, Japan and was cared for by her mother's sister. She graduated from Nagano Seisen Girl's Senior High School in 2370.

After her graduation, Kazue came back to Elzat 3 for a year to care for her father, who was stricken with a colibric hemorrage. Kazue then decided that she wanted to be a doctor, and started her medical traning.

In 2373, the Dominion War was in full force and the colonists at Elzat 3 were helping the war effort. Kazue was made up to look Cardassian once again for her own safety. She became a certified Cardassian field medic and assistant head doctor at the Elzat 3 hospital, where many Cardassian troops were sent for care.

When the Federation started landing ground troops in Cardassian territory, a marine transport crash landed on Elzat 3. Kazue, being legally a Cardassian citizen, could not openly help the Federation soldiers, so she secretly tended to their wounds. There, she met and fell in love with a Marine Corporal named Roger Kaplan who showed her that she should be proud of her species.

The Federation eventually picked up the Marines and Roger promised to write Kazue. They never saw each other again and Roger was killed in one of the last battles of the Dominion War.

Seeing the valor of the Starfleet officers she encountered and wanting to be with Roger, Kazue applied to Starfleet Academy in 2375 and was accepted the next term.

Kazue left Elzat 3 for Starfleet Academy just in time, because the war was reaching its climax and the secret that she was in fact human, leaked out. Not wanting to risk her life or her family's she left quickly. Her Cardassian self was reported as dead from an accident, and she took on her orginal family name once again.

Three months into her Academy career, San Francisco was attacked and desecrated by Dominion Forces and so was Cardassia Prime. Fortunately, on the day of the attack, Kazue was skipping class to go hiking in the nearby mountains, only to return and find her dorm room was a pile of ash and smoke.

She almost quit Starfleet to go back to Elzat after the war was over, but her parents convinced her to stay and do something with her talents. She graduated Starfleet Academy Medical College in 2379 ranking 20th in her class.

// Medical Profile
  Kazue suffered majorly from the Maquis attack when she was eight. She has numerous scars on her body, including a severe one across her stomach that has never fully healed.

Kazue was totally blind from when she was 8 to when she was 10 years old. The treatment was crude on Elzat 3 for a while, but she lived through it until the infections in her eyes threatened to do serious brain damage. The two-year delay in remedying the problem had caused it to fester. Kazue was rushed to an adequate facility on Bajor and was given ocular implants.

In cases of severe stress or sickness, Kazue will have reoccurring nightmares of the attack on Elzat 3, but this has not bothered her for some time.
