// Family History
  Kizlev was born to Zhevren and Veres'la of House Hy'Qiin on Andor. Delivered and named by his uncle Joveleth, a physician, in accordance with Hy'Qiin family tradition. Although considered the "runt" of the litter, being weak and barely surviving the ordeal of birth, Kizlev was gifted with amazing dexterity and displayed maturity and intelligence beyond his years.

Growing up on Andor, he developed a knack for art and literature. Upon reaching his early teenage years, he held a great interest in history, particularly the military history and philosophy of humankind on Earth. His childhood, however, was spent mostly without the presence of his parents. His father Zhevren was a Starfleet tactical officer assigned to the Galaxy class USS Odyssey. His mother Veres'la was a civilian scientist and researcher at Space dock in the Sol system. Thus, communications and homecomings from them were typically few and far in between due to the nature of their work.

Kizlev's younger siblings scorned him for his scholarly ways and would either ignore him or find ways to torment and tease him. Fortunately, his elder sister Shiira was usually there to protect him from their troublemaking ways.

Always very close to her little brother and wanting him to be more than just a bookworm, Shiira sought to instill confidence and discipline in Kizlev through the art of Andor-Kenjutsu, a variant of the ancient human martial art involving the use of a sword in actual combat, particularly in the use of Japanese style blades. Young Kizlev took so well to his sister's instruction, that in only five years he would travel to a secluded monastery in a nearby Andorian colony planet, leaving his homeworld for the first time, and be tested by the same sensei that trained Shiira. After a grueling series of trials, Kizlev was awarded the honour of becoming a Renshi (instructor) of Kenjutsu.

Only one week after his 18th birthday, Kizlev learned that his father Zhevren and his older brother Krozev were both killed on the USS Odyssey as the ship was destroyed while in the Gamma Quadrant by a Jem'Hadar suicide attack. At the height of the Dominion War, Kizlev was truly enraged for the first time in his life, wanting to avenge their deaths. Without a word to anyone, he sought the nearest Starfleet recruitment center on Andor, and enlisted as a starship security crewman. Zhevren's wife Veres'la was well aware of her husband's death nearly the moment it occured, despite it happening half a galaxy away. Veres'la shortly afterwards became gravely ill and would thereafter die of supposedly "natural" causes only months later.

Kizlev served through the War on the Ambassador class USS Excalibur, nearly losing his life to a Jem'Hadar boarding party in a skirmish just prior to Starfleet's climatic attack against Dominion forces at Cardassia Prime.

Shortly after the War, Kizlev, newly promoted to chief petty officer, was transferred to a Norway class vessel where he would meet Lieutenant Jakuharrr. The Caitain officer, formerly an enlisted recruit himself, saw potential in the young Andorian and encouraged him to enroll in college and eventually apply for Officer Candidate School. Weary and badly stressed after the Dominion conflict, Kizlev took Jake's advice to heart and left Starfleet that same year. For almost ten months, he sought peace of mind through seclusion and his prowess with the blade, strengthening mind and body with meditation and exercise on the colony world where he trained to become a Renshi.

After almost accepting an offer to join the crew of his brother Kolev's ship SS Zenobia, Kizlev instead followed his sister Shiira's urgings to attend college, reminding him of Jake and a possible career as a Starfleet officer; something he secretly wished to become, much like his father Zhevren was. Three years later, Kizlev earned a degree in philosophy, with a minor in computer engineering. He then re-enlisted in order to attend OCS. His primary focus as a candidate was Advanced Tactics and Security. He now serves in Starfleet as a commissioned officer.
