The son of renowned scientists Tolora and Tomek. His parents were highly respected scientists who conducted their research at the Vulcan Science Academy. Taal spent his entire childhood on Vulcan. Taal joined the Vulcan Science Academy when
in 2367. Shortly after joining, Taal experienced emotion as he fell in love with a classmate, T'Laana. He was sent to a Vulcan Master to achieve Kolinahr, the long rite that sheds emotions. He spent 1 year with the Vulcan Master and
successfully achieved Kolinahr. He returned to the Vulcan Science Academy and stayed there until
2371, when he graduated. He joined Starfleet Science Academy immediately. In
2373, Taal experienced Pon Farr for the first time. He was transferred to Starfleet Medical for treatment. Since he did not believe there was a suitable mate, Taal did not bond with anyone and the
Pon Farr was resolved. Taal transferred to Starfleet Medical and stayed there until he graduated in the Class of 2377, Class Rank 25th of 231. Taal was given the assignment of Junior Medical Officer aboard the USS Jupiter in
2377. He stayed there for over a year and was promoted to Lieutenant. In
2378, Taal was reassigned to the USS Geneva as Senior Medical Officer.
A month after being assigned, Taal learned that his mother had become ill. He transferred to Strategic Operations Officer and went to Vulcan. After a week, Tolora had recovered so Taal returned to the USS Geneva. He kept his position for 3 more weeks before he transferred to Chief Science
Officer. In 2379, Taal met a Caitain named
Tlatoani. She was a civilian assigned to
the ship as a specialist in the field of
Stellar Cartography and Astrometrics. On a
mission at Liridian Prime, Taal and
Tlatoani shared a mindmeld. In the next
couple of months, Taal fell in love with
Tlatoani. In 2379, Taal was promoted to
Lieutenant Commander and named Executive
Officer on board the USS Geneva. Shortly
after, he lost control of his emotions
when his love for Tlatoani grew deeper.
Not knowing what to do and in fear he
would hurt Tlatoani, Taal took a brief
leave of absence to Vulcan to regain
control. On Vulcan, a procedure called
Fullara was performed to erase Taal's
memories of his love for Tlatoani. Upon
return to the ship, with the help of
Tlatoani, Taal's memories resurfaced over a
period of a few weeks. In 2380, Taal was
promoted to Commander. Tlatoani died shortly
after. Before Taal had time to deal with her
death, he led an Away Team to the planet of
Zestel IV to investigate a mysterious plague
that had infected the Gruthorian colony. It
was soon discovered that the plague had Borg
invasion implications and an attempt was
made to stop the Borg. However, Taal was
soon assimilated and was under the command
of the tiny collective. The Borg nanoprobes
were soon removed from Taal's system,
however, the trauma cause a reversion in
Taal's mental state making him believe he
was five years of age. Taal returned to
Vulcan to receive psychological assistance.
When his memories resurfaced, Taal returned
to Starbase 245 for further observation.
There he served as Senior Scientific
Observer for a few weeks until an invasion
of the Starbase by an unknown alien race
caused Taal to be given the temporary
assignment of Acting Executive Officer. A
couple of weeks later, Taal was reassigned
as Executive Officer of the Geneva. While
waiting for the Geneva to dock at Starbase
245, he met Kazue Kimura, a young Japanese
Doctor, who was assigned to the Geneva as
Chief Medical Officer. Immediately, the two
felt a connection and over the next few
weeks, they became friends. In 2381, During
an away team mission aboard the Federation
cruise liner USS Empress of the Stars, Taal
was shot in the stomach and shoulder while
attempting to commandeer the vessel's
bridge. Due to this incident, the strong
bond Taal and Kazue had for each other
quickly blossomed into love. Taal began to
lose control of his emotions again and
reluctantly informed Counselor Bauer of his
condition. Seeing no alternative, he was
removed from active duty. Soon after, the
cause of his condition was discovered when a
microscopic device was removed from Taal,
apparently affecting the hypothalamus
portion of his brain. The origin of the
device was unknown, but recognized by Kazue
as Cardassian technology. A few weeks after
the surgery, he was cleared for active duty.
On a mission to investigate a malfunctioning
antenna array between the Taqra and Theta
Sygni systems, a strange phenomena occurred
in which an alternate universe persona of
Tlatoani returned to the Geneva. Although
unknown that she was from an alternate
timeline, it caused a rift in the
relationship between Taal and Kazue. Taal
also discovered that in the alternate
timeline that Tlatoani originated from, he
and Tlatoani married and had a daughter,
Taliyah. Soon after the rift between Taal
and Kazue was mended, Taal experienced his
first kiss. Taal also showed Kazue how
Vulcans expressed affection for one another
as touch telepaths. |
